The competition for creative podcast talent
We are a proud partner of Flanders’ first-ever podcast competition: De Grote Podcasting by Het Nieuwsblad. The goal? Finding new audio talent! During the summer of 2021, creators could submit their podcast ideas to have a chance at winning their own series, made and published by Het Nieuwsblad. More than 350 brave souls sent in their pitches, from which the jury selected 5 finalists.

Under the guidance of experienced podcastmakers and audio engineers from House of Media, each finalist recorded the pilot of their own series. We poured all our podcast making knowledge into a masterclass and assigned them a buddy to help them with the editing and editorial work.
And the winner is: Debby De Ridder with 'Voor de eer'
The winner was announced during the grand finale at the 2023 Podcastfestival. In her podcast, Debby De Ridder unfolds the story of the courageous Afghan woman Dunya, who is married off as a teenager. She rejects the man and with him, her family’s honour. Today she wants to shake off her past and be free. The series proves to be an intense quest to find that freedom.
