Say hi to Finn

As a lifetime creative I am always looking for the next outlet to scratch my creative itch. With a background in illustration, graphic design, and embroidery, along with my wife and business partner, Lara, I am one half of Rasslers. For the last 7 years, I have worked primarily as a brand designer, illustrator, and graphic designer for small brands like Mimi’s Chuka Diner and multinationals like Deliveroo.

While Illustration and Graphic Design are my bread in butter, I like to incorporate other creative pursuits into my life to keep myself challenged and engaged. Since 2020 I have been an avid embroiderer, which I came to thanks to my grandfather, who embroidered jackets in the 60s and 70s.

What's the best piece of career advice you've ever received?

The best piece of career advice I every received was actually from my wife and it was, “Hospitality is killing you, maybe it’s time to leave the restaurant industry.”
However, when I’m not embroidering or working you can still find me in the kitchen cooking something tasty while listening to one of my almost 800 records.

If your life had a theme song, what would it be and why?

“Everyday it Starts” by Parquet Courts, but maybe a less worry inducing answer would be “These Boots are Made for Walking” by Nancy Sinatra. Although Parquet Courts does a great cover of that song.

As an American, what's your favourite dish in Belgium?

My go to Belgian dish is Boggese kook met spek en Luikse siroop (buckwheat pancakes with bacon and Liège syrup, ed). I personally feel that the fact that Luikse siroop hasn’t traveled outside of Belgium might be the biggest failing of all time.
