What's the best piece of career advice you've ever received?
The best piece of career advice I every received was actually from my wife and it was, “Hospitality is killing you, maybe it’s time to leave the restaurant industry.”
However, when I’m not embroidering or working you can still find me in the kitchen cooking something tasty while listening to one of my almost 800 records.
If your life had a theme song, what would it be and why?
“Everyday it Starts” by Parquet Courts, but maybe a less worry inducing answer would be “These Boots are Made for Walking” by Nancy Sinatra. Although Parquet Courts does a great cover of that song.
As an American, what's your favourite dish in Belgium?
My go to Belgian dish is Boggese kook met spek en Luikse siroop (buckwheat pancakes with bacon and Liège syrup, ed). I personally feel that the fact that Luikse siroop hasn’t traveled outside of Belgium might be the biggest failing of all time.
